As we continue to roll into 2017, take some time to look back at the past week in news.

People from Rio de Janeiro to New York City celebrated the New Year's holiday with fireworks, confetti and loved ones.

Also on New Year's, a the iconic Hollywood sign in California was vandalized to instead read 'Hollyweed.'

Elsewhere in the world, severe weather struck various places including thunderstorms in Uruguay and fresh snow in Canada.
