The planets of 'Star Wars' may be more real than you think

If you thought the planets of the Star Wars franchise were purely science fiction, you may want to think again.

Using data from over 3,400 confirmed alien worlds, scientists were able to show a likely comparison between our own galaxy and that of a galaxy far, far away.

The double-sunned planet like Luke Skywalker's home of Tatooine is so similar to Kepler-16b that its nickname is "Tatooine," which George Lucas himself approved of.Desert worlds like, Jakku Jedha in 'The Force Awakens' are also not so uncommon, with planets like Mars as close any and many of which, scientists believe, could be habitable.

Frozen planets like Hoth from 'The Empire Strikes Back' are also possible. The frozen super-Earth OGLE-2005-BLG-390 is too cold to support life on the surface, but scientists believe there is the possibility for life under the surface.

Scientists say in the next few years, a new generation of spacecraft will be searching for even more planets and giving us more information which will bring us one step closer to making science fiction a reality.
