This grocery chain's ad is going viral again — and for good reason

Most Americans have likely never heard of Food City. Many of them will never set foot inside one. But the grocery chain has touched the hearts of millions of Americans with a moving ad they released called "Salute."

The commercial made a big splash when it was released last year, but it's going viral again this summer, even though not a single word is said in the commercial. And it's not hard to see why.

The commercial opens with an elderly veteran getting dressed in his old uniform, while younger family members get ready for a picnic. People smile and laugh while food is being prepared. The veteran, however, can be seen reminiscing on his time in the military. As he walks out the front door, the reason for the picnic becomes clear: a younger service member in uniform has come home. The two approach each other, and the older veteran renders a salute to his grandson, who salutes back before the two hug. It's a simple moment, but one that easily brings the viewer to tears.

While the commercial is an older one, it is making the rounds on Facebook again, racking up hundreds of thousands of views.
