This year's presidential race quickly turned into a war fought over twitter. Indeed #Election2016 was the second most popular topic of the year.

The second most retweeted political message also goes to Clinton, telling trump to "delete his account" after he tweeted nobody wanted four more years of Obama.
Number three goes to President-elect Trump on election day, with his rallying cry "Make America Great Again."
Also worth noting, Vice President Biden took spot 4 with his public proclamation of his bromance with President Obama, while Obama took spot number 7 with this four year old tweet.
But for the 236,000 retweets this year alone, perhaps it's a sign some aren't ready to move on just yet.
