Meet Big Jake -- the world's tallest horse

Horses are generally huge animals, but a Belgian Gelding named Big Jake is officially the tallest of them all.

The 15-year-old Guinness World Records titleholder measures just under 6 feet 11 inches and weighs around 2,600 pounds.

Though Big Jake was once a celebrated member of a winning hitch team, he is now in retirement and lives at Smokey Hollow Farm in Poynette, Wisconsin.

His days often include visits from his fans.

Big Jake's owner, Jerry Gilbert, told Guinness World Records that the horse is truly a gentle giant and "...loves to play around and play with people's hair. He's kind of a big jokester, actually."

Gilbert also notes that in accommodating Jake, "Everything has to be big! His stall is 20X20 feet when an average stall is about 12X12 feet...when we transport him we have to use a semi trailer."
