School district bans Santa Claus from classrooms

Santa, you better watch out, you better not cry but it looks like you won't be making into certain classrooms this holiday season.

A school district in Oregon has "suspended" Santa and any other religious imagery right before Christmas.

According to KATU, the Hillsboro School District banned all religious-themed decorations in classrooms including everyone's favorite bearded old man.

The district sent a note to staff that said:

"You may still decorate your door or office if you like, but we ask that you be respectful and sensitive to the diverse perspectives and beliefs of our community and refrain from using religious-themed decorations or images like Santa Claus."

But now school officials are scrambling to clarify their holiday policies following a social media uproar over the memo. Now they say they would not be "policing" decorations unless they were over the top.
