Dozens of chickens are taking over Bronx neighborhood, residents say

SOUTH BRONX (WPIX) — Dozens of chickens are taking over a Bronx neighborhood and residents want New York state authorities to contain and save them.

On 169th street and Fulton avenue, chickens are all over the street and in the trees.

"It's just a normal day in the Bronx I guess," one father, coming out of a nearby school, said to PIX11 News.

Yvette Gonzalez works in the neighborhood and first told PIX11 News about the bizarre problem.

"I almost hit one driving and if I was a little faster I would have hit the poor guy. I saw a baby chicken dead on the floor unfortunately," Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez wants the New York state to step in, contain and save them.

PIX11 News reached out to the state Department of Agriculture, who has the power to help the chickens find a suitable home.

The Department of Agriculture said they are looking into the problem.
