Woman claims 'Jesus told her' to kill her 8-year-old

BATON ROUGE, La -- A 40-year-old woman told investigators that she tried to kill her son because Jesus told her to do so.

According to WBRZ , Gloria Ross was taken to East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for attempted murder and cruelty to a juvenile Thursday morning.

Officials told the station she cut her 8-year-old child's throat with a kitchen knife, leaving a 2.5 inch gash.

A witness said she hear the child scream, then saw Ross holding the knife. The witness added that she took the knife away from the mother and ran to get help.

WRBZ reports the boy is suffering from non-life threatening injuries.
