Racist fliers on college campus say 'white women shouldn't date black men'

A racist flier has sprung up throughout the Southern Methodist University campus, and students are outraged.

According to local news outlet WFAA, the flier first appeared in two dormitories at the Texas university. The flier is entitled, "Why White Women Shouldn't Date Black Men." TV reporter Demond Fernandez shared the flier on Twitter:

The flier voices several racist beliefs about black men, such as they are not as smart as white men.

Student Hugh Sneed told WFAA, "You're going to find racist people everywhere. I'm from San Diego, especially here in the south, you get it all the time."

"It's really disappointing," he continued.

According to a statement by the university, relayed by the school paper The Daily Campus, the perpetuators are as of yet unknown.

Gerald Turner, President of Southern Methodist University, released a statement early Wednesday about the incident:

"Anyone committed to living a life of denigrating others in some misguided effort to elevate themselves should find another place to live," he said.

To counteract the fliers, others on campus hung fliers encouraging diversity.

This is not the first instance in which this flier appeared on a college campus. In September, the same racist pamphlet was seen at the University of Michigan.
