Oklahoma State University student found dead in fraternity house
STILLWATER, Okla. (KFOR) -- It was OSU's last home game.
50,000 fans, including Dekota Gregory, were filing into Boone Pickens stadium.
Gregory was covering the game for the school paper, when his phone began to blow up.
"'You need to call me ASAP.' I went out into the stairway. He called me. I sat in shock," he told NewsChannel 4.
Gregory learned his best friend, Brandon Cavazos, had been found dead inside his room at the Sigma Chi fraternity.
"It is amazing how many people knew him. It's like a small university when something like this happens," Gregory said.
Photos from the tragic case:
Cavazos was a 20-year-old sports management major.
The OSU junior was loved and respected by all who knew him.
"We took economics together. He was a walking calculator, quick to do his work and he was extremely dedicated. He had a passion for working," said friend Kevin Dorsey.
There were no signs of trauma.
A medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
Meantime, a mourning Cowboy nation pulls together again - shaken by another unexpected tragedy.
"We have been through this many times. I have every confidence we will come together. At Sigma Chi and across the campus, we will help each other through it once again," Dr. Trevor Richardson with OSU Counseling Services told us.
