Woman in labor stops to vote before heading to the hospital

Updated

Jessica Leibfried, a mom-to-be and vocal Hillary Clinton supporter, knew the birth of her first child would cut it close to the 2016 presidential election -- she just had no idea exactly how close.

Leibfried, who hails from Duluth, Minnesota, grew up in a music-loving family of five and ended up following in her parents footsteps, as did her twin sister and her brother.

"My mom and dad are both music teachers," Leibfried told AOL.com. "My twin sister and I followed in their footsteps and my brother became an English teacher! Several years ago, I transitioned into arts administration for a local symphony orchestra. I'm currently the Director of Education and Engagement for the Minnesota Orchestra."

As any first-time mother would be, Leibfried was more-than prepared to welcome her daughter into the world -- until, that is, the little one surprised her mother by arriving a full week before she was supposed to!

"My first child is due on November 15," Leibfried told AOL.com. "However, she decided to come early! Once I realized that, it became clear that I'd likely be in the hospital on voting day."

But Leibfried refused to let a little thing like child labor stop her from preforming her civic duty and throwing her support behind her candidate.

She shared her story, along with a sweet photo, in the private Facebook group "Pantsuit Nation," created as a safe space for Clinton supporters to share their opinions and support for the candidate.

"I'm in labor with my first child but absolutely had to make it to the polls to cast my vote for Hillary before going to the hospital," she captioned the image. "I hope my baby girl comes into this world with Hillary in the White House!"

Naturally, members of the Facebook group were touched by her tireless dedication.

Since she shared her story on Monday, it has racked up over 77,000 likes and received over 3,300 comments, most offering warm words of encouragement and congratulations.

Leibfried, who as of 11 a.m. EST is still in labor, says she feels she been blessed with an amazing family, and can't wait to bring the newest Leibfried into the world.

And as for baby names?

"I have some top contenders," she said. "But will decide once I meet her."

That aside, we think we have a solid suggestion -- or at the very least, "Hillary" would make a lovely middle name.
