Hillary Clinton has won New Jersey, early poll results show.

Despite a long business record in New Jersey, Donald Trump's failures in Atlantic City and the state's long record as a Democratic stronghold gave Hillary Clinton New Jersey's 14 electoral votes.

Polls before Election Day showed Clinton with a wide lead in the state. New Jersey has gone blue since 1992, turning Democratic for the first time since 1964 to help elect Bill Clinton.

Earlier in the campaign, Trump said New Jersey would be one of the typically red states he could put in play.

But Trump has a mixed reputation in New Jersey, a state with a large minority population and residents in Atlantic City who can recall the rise and fall of his casinos there. Clinton had a strong campaigner in New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker.
