Lady Gaga slams Melania Trump for bullying comments during speech

On Thursday, Melania Trump made her first speech since the Republican National Convention in July, where she was accused of plagiarizing First Lady Michelle Obama. This one, too, proved to be controversial.

Trump spoke about how as first lady she would work to combat cyber bullying. Some believe, however, that her husband commits and encourages bullying himself. The New York Times recently published a list of 282 people that Donald Trump has insulted on his Twitter account, for example.

Furthermore, in April the Southern Poverty Law Center released a report on "The Trump Effect." They stated that Trump's campaign has increased both racism and bullying in schools and anxiety among children.

As Melania Trump's statement condemning bullying seems hypocritical to those who see Donald Trump as a bully, her speech has caused backlash. Among critics are singer Lady Gaga, who blasted Trump on Twitter:

"Your husband is 1 [sic] of the most notorious bullies we have ever witnessed," Gaga wrote. She also called Trump a hypocrite.

Gaga is an enthusiastic supporter for Hillary Clinton: She changed her name on Twitter to "#VoteHillary" and her most recent photo features a voting outfit inspired by suffragettes:
