Kim Jong Un plotting Election Day surprise, blasts Obama, report says

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is said to be plotting an "Election Day spectacular" -- another missile launch.

South Korea's military said Monday it will remain on high alert as North Korea may fire an intermediate-range ballistic missile, timed with the U.S. presidential election Tuesday.

"We are closely watching every move by the North Korean military at its Punggye-ri nuclear test site and other possible missile-launching sites," an official from Seoul's joint chiefs of staff told reporters. "The military is fully prepared to respond to any provocative acts by the North."

A defense ministry spokesman said the country is prepared to do whatever is necessary, despite the ongoing political scandal plaguing South Korea.

"All military and security matters, including the deployment of an advanced missile defense system known as THAAD, will be pushed forward as planned regardless of the scandal," the spokesman said.

The news of the possible missile launch comes as an apparent white paper report from the North Korean government blasting President Barack Obama was published.

"The moves of the Obama regime to stifle DPRK which surpass the successive regimes have steadily pushed DPRK to bolster up its nuclear force, making it have access to even H-bomb called 'absolute weapon' on this planet," the report argues, as reported and summarized by the Korean Central News Agency. DPRK is the abbreviation for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the formal name of North Korea.

KCNA says North Korea noted that the U.S. doesn't have a leg to stand on when it comes to promoting peace and stability.

"The heinous massacres in Afghanistan and other parts of the world under the deceptive signboard of 'defending freedom and democracy', 'combating terrorism' and 'protecting human rights,'" are the key actions of the U.S. government and the Obama administration, the report said.
