In the wake of FBI Director James Comey announcing his intent to further probe the Hillary Clinton email situation, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid struck back.
On Sunday, a letter Reid wrote to Comey was released, and in it is the suggestion the director is aware of evidence that ties Donald Trump to Russia.
Reid writes, "In my communications with you and other top officials in the national security community, it has become clear that you possess explosive information about the close ties and coordination between Donald Trump, his top advisors and the Russian government – a foreign interest openly hostile to the United States, which Trump praises at every opportunity. The public has a right to know this information."
He also notes, "I wrote to you months ago calling for this information to be released to the public...and yet, you continue to resist calls to inform the public of this critical information."
According to Adam Jentleson, a spokesperson for Reid, the senator has knowledge of the matter because, "there have been classified briefings on this topic."
