Man chases his runaway car across a highway and in front of traffic

It's always nice to run into friends, but there are some places where it's not wise to stop and chat.

A man in Switzerland hopefully now acknowledges that, as, after pulling onto a Neuchâtel highway shoulder to catch up with a truck-driving pal, his unoccupied car went on an impromptu journey.

The vehicle rolled across the road's two lanes, bounced off a median fence, and then headed back towards the other side of the road.

The owner chased after it and soon found himself facing oncoming traffic.

Luckily, those drivers were all paying attention and were able to avert disaster.

The runaway vehicle eventually stopped itself, colliding with a roadside sign.

There were no reports about the October 17 incident, but evidence of damage prompted a review of surveillance footage.

The man responsible has been identified and is facing a variety of charges, notes The Local.
