Man wearing 'scream' mask, armed with knife robs multiple hotels

WARRENVILLE, Ill. (WGN) -- A man armed with a knife and wearing the mask made popular in the "Scream" horror films is robbing hotels in Warrenville, police said.

At about 1:42 a.m. Monday, police responded to the Hyatt House Hotel, 27554 Maecliff Drive, where the man approached the desk clerk and demanded money. He obtained an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene.

Shortly thereafter, police received a dispatch for an alarm at the Residence Inn, 28500 Bella Vista Parkway. It is believed the same man entered the hotel and demanded money. When he was unable to obtain any money, he fled the scene.

No one was injured in either incident.

Police say the suspect is male, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing approximately 230 pounds, and wearing a black hoodie, pants and gloves as well as black Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star gym shoes with white laces and rubber soles.

Anyone who has information regarding these incidents or the suspect in this picture, is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Ken Dawson at the Warrenville Police Department at (630) 393-2131.
