Woman allegedly kills pregnant teen to steal her baby
Mirian Aparecida Soares Siqueira pretended to be pregnant for months. She stopped at nothing to fool her friends -- she even posed with a fake baby bump.
The only thing the 25 year old was missing was the actual baby.
The Brazilian woman allegedly lured Valissia Fernandes de Jesus, a pregnant 15 year old, into her home and stabbed her repeatedly, attempting to cut the fetus out of her womb, reports say.
The unborn child did not survive the attack, and Soares Siqueira allegedly dumped its body into a bathtub next to a trash bin before stuffing Valissa's body in a barrel in the backyard, according to the International Business Times.
When Soares Siqueira's husband, 37-year-old Mateus Rogério Cardoso, returned home from a night at the bar, he found the bodies in those locations.
Soares Siqueira said she stabbed the teen after a fight, but claimed the fetus was hers, according to police.
Shortly after, her husband called police -- but not before she fled.
Her husband called police but she fled before police arrived.
She was found a few days later at a police station in the town of Sertãozinho 20 miles away with her mother.
"In 15 years on the job, this is one of the cruelest cases I have ever seen," the police chief told Mirror Online.
The story made locals so angry, around 100 people attempted to storm the station where Soares Siqueira was held. Police had to treat the situation like a riot to get the crowds to disperse, according to local media.
