Man grabs child, attempts to throw him from moving subway train: NYPD

UNION SQUARE, Manhattan (WPIX) — Police are searching for a man accused of shaking a child and threatening to throw him off a subway train near Union Square.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m., on Oct. 5 on a southbound No. 4 train.

Witnesses told police the suspect pulled an 11-year-old boy into the area between the train cars before picking him up and shaking him. The suspect allegedly acted as if he was going to throw the child off the train.

The child bumped his head on the side of the train.

A passenger intervened and managed to pull the child back into a train car.

The child and the suspect got off the train at the Union Square subway station.

The suspect is described as being approximately 6 feet tall and in his 30s.
