What happened to this person's letter will make you love email

Ah, snail mail. Great for nostalgia, not so great for speedy or clean delivery.

Reddit user scotta01, who Mashable reports is from Exeter, UK, shared a photo of a letter his wife received to explain mail that arrived in "damaged condition."

It's a bit strange:

The letter says her note had been delayed because it was damaged... by snails.

That's right, it's literally snail mail.

The explanation is both polite and a bit frank, considering how strange it is.

Reddit user scotta01 confirmed that this is not a typical British problem, although that would be punny.

"First time I have ever seen anything like it," they wrote in a separate comment. "The post box was out in the middle of nowhere so maybe that had something to do with it."

Isn't email great?
