No clown costumes this Halloween for one school district

Looks like kids won't be dressing up as clowns for Halloween in New Haven, Connecticut this year.

New Haven Public Schools have banned students from wearing clown costumes during this Halloween season.

The ban coincides with ongoing police investigations into several 'scary' clown Instagram accounts with threatening messages to children.

Two accounts in particular specifically target New Haven.

One account labeled 'New Haven Clowns 123' said to "watch out" and another claimed New Haven is next. One account even wrote, "we're coming for all you little kids."

School officials report there is no indication of an immediate threat, but that they do take these incidents seriously.

According to police, the creepy clown craze spooking the country reached a high last month with at least a dozen people arrested for taking part in the menacing stunt or for making false reports.
