Lincoln County sheriff investigating after man's body found in fire pit
LINCOLN COUNTY, Okla. (KFOR) - The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man's body was found burned in a fire pit.
Three children who were looking for their pet made the gruesome discovery.
"They live in the trailer park and was looking for their lost cat when they ran across this. They ran back and told mom. Mom went and looked and called us," said Lincoln County Sheriff Charlie Dougherty.
The sheriff says most of the body was badly burned.

"We know from about the knees down, we have two white legs of a male subject. The rest of it is too unrecognizable, he was burnt that bad," said Sheriff Dougherty.
Authorities have not positively identified the victim, but believe he is a man who lived alone in an RV by the fire pit.
"We do know that Saturday night, this individual and another individual who we have spoke with was drinking together," said Dougherty.
Right now, they are not calling that person a suspect.
They're trying to figure out if this was just a tragic accident or something much more serious.
A nearby resident who does not want to be identified said her children were also out playing Sunday evening.
"We watch them run across the bridge and everything. We were out in the yard. And then all of a sudden, here comes a whole slew of people. He had found him. He didn't say anything to us, he ran and got his mom," she said. "Quiet guy, nice guy. He was out and about and talked to the kids daily. And we talked to him Friday before we left and everything was good. We were shocked when we came home."
She does not think this was an accident.
"It seems very strange if it was an accident. I don't see that it would be a, just doesn't seem possible," she said.
The sheriff is waiting on the medical examiner for an exact identification and cause of death.
