Gruesome discovery made near Chicago golf course

BENSENVILLE, Ill. – Authorities are on the scene of a suburban golf course after a body was discovered there this morning.

Police say the body of a 37-year-old woman was discovered at the White Pines Country Club around 8:15 a.m.

Police say the woman was the victim of a suspected homicide that occurred earlier in the morning in the 11500 block of Grand Ave in unincorporated Cook County.

Neighbors say they knew the victim only as Meagan and she'd lived there for just a few months with her boyfriend. They were described as a couple struggling to get back on their feet.

Neighbor Caleb Blanton said he helped the young couple move in and paid their rennet for a couple of months. He even brought them to his neighborhood church after finding them begging for change at a gas station and living out of their car.

"I didn't see a lot of arguments but they had problems. They would fight," he said. "But I never thought, not for a second, that it would ever happen. Not something like this."

Both the DuPage and Cook County Sherriff's departments are investigating. They say there is no risk to the community.

An autopsy on the victim has been scheduled for tomorrow morning.
