Firefighter gives simple yet amazing tribute to peers who died on 9/11

Many of those who perished in the 9/11 attacks were firefighters, police and other people who put others before themselves. One firefighter in Tennessee decided to honor them in a unique way.

Facebook user Lezlie Bauler posted a photo of the firefighter, Jason Harding:

"This man asked if it was okay for him to climb 110 sets, fully suited, of stairs in honor of his fallen brothers and sisters for 9/11," Bauler explained. The act moved Bauler to tears, and quickly went viral online.

Harding himself released a statement after seeing the thousands of shares and comments. "I was not and am still not looking for any self recognition," he said. He expressed gratitude and appreciation for those who shared the post and messaged him privately.

He noted that there are many "stair climbs" around the country that do the same thing. "I have participated in Nashville's Memorial Stair Climb for the past 4 years," he said. "Unable to make it this year I decided to honor anyway."
