Woman accused of trying to pull body from casket at funeral

COLUMBIA, Tenn. (WREG) -- A woman in middle Tennessee is accused of crashing a funeral while drunk and doing the unthinkable.

Officers arrested Cynthia Frierson at a funeral home in Columbia.

Investigators say she entered a funeral service, walked up to the casket, and started grabbing the body inside and attempted to drag it out.

Funeral attendees rushed to stop her.

According to police, Frierson smelled of alcohol and had a small glass pipe with her.

Earlier, police received reports she was driving and hit several vehicles according toWKRN.

Frierson denies any wrongdoing and says she knew the deceased and just touched the body, "I just touched him and turned around and I said, 'He is just asleep,' and I said, 'Everything is going to be OK.," she told WKRN.

She faces a number of charges including public intoxication.
