WATCH LIVE: Expedition 48 crew members return to Earth

Three crew members of the International Space Station (ISS) are set to make their return to Earth Tuesday evening.

Expedition 48 Commander Jeff Williams of NASA and Soyuz Commander Alexey Ovchinin and Flight Engineer Oleg Skripochka of the Russian space agency Roscosmos are expected to depart from the ISS at 5:51 p.m. EDT and land in Kazakhstan at 9:14 p.m.

According to NASA, "the Expedition 48 crew members contributed to hundreds of experiments in biology, biotechnology, physical science and Earth science aboard humanity's only orbiting laboratory."

Upon their departure from the ISS, Expedition 49 will being. The 3-member crew includes Anatoly Ivanishin of Roscosmos, Kate Rubins of NASA and Takuya Onishi of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
