Facebook app only for teens has parents outraged

Facebook is at it again with a new app — but sorry grownups, this one is only for users 21 years old and under.

It's called the Lifestage App and is advertised as an app that "makes it easy and fun to share a visual profile of who you are with your school network." It enables teens to watch clips about the lives of their classmates.

However, there is a huge concern for young users, because the app is linked to a phone number and all of the users' information within the profile is included.

The app store states, "Please note: Everything you post in Lifestage is always public and viewable by everyone. There is no way to limit the audience of your videos. All videos you upload to your profile are fully public content."

The app is trying to compete with Snapchat which has 60% of monthly users ages 13-24.

There is a safety setting within Lifestage allowing users to block and report older users from accessing other profiles.

The main issue with the app is how people may be able to get around these blocks and access the private information of teen users.
