DC police launch investigation after viral video shows woman pinned to car by cop

The Washington D.C. Police Department has launched an internal investigation after a video by Twitter user @MacAndCheeks went viral. The video, which has since been shared thousands of times, shows a D.C. police officer holding a woman up against a car as her feet dangle in the air.

What lead to the confrontation remains unclear, but during the 46 second clip shared to Twitter the male officer can be heard asking the woman her age and telling her, "Your ass is dust."

The woman, who is a 32-year-old teacher, says she was buying school supplies when she tried to stop a man from harassing another woman, leading her to speak aggressively to the man when police arrived on the scene. The Twitter user who caught the confrontation on video claims police considered her a threat because she was yelling and accused her of prostitution.

"It's harassment. Either way you look at it, it's harassment," the woman in the video later. "I'm a school teacher and I work out here and I help these little girls all day, every day. So there's no reason to assume that somebody out here doing the wrong thing and most definitely when I'm here in uniform. Are you serious?"

"If I see a woman out here in the streets, I would do anything to help her," she told the Twitter user. "[Police] just assume somebody out here doing something negative."

An officer later helped the woman with her belongings and she was released.
