New Mexico Restaurant Criticized For Selling 'Black Olives Matter' Merchandise

The Black Lives Matter movement was established in response to the very serious issue of police brutality.

One restaurant owner in Albuquerque, New Mexico is now accused of trivializing that movement, reports FOX News.

Last month, Rick Camuglia put the phrase "Black Olives Matter" on the roadside sign for Paisano's to raise awareness of the establishment's new tuna dish made with black olives.

Images of the advertisement got plenty of media attention and he recently started selling shirts and hats printed with the same slogan.

Though Camuglia has gotten a lot of criticism, he stresses that many enthusiastic responses have poured in as well, notes the Daily Mail.

He told KOAT, "People have filled the restaurant and told us to leave up the sign. That's great, you know, because a lot of people make a living off working for this restaurant."
