SpaceX just landed its 6th rocket — here are some incredible photos from the launch

SpaceX did it again.

After launching a telecommunications satellite into space at 1:26 a.m. ET on Sunday, August 14, the company landed the second stage of its Falcon 9 rocket on a drone ship at sea.

This marks the sixth time SpaceX has successfully landed a rocket, and the fourth time it did it in the ocean.

Here you can see the 229-foot-tall rocket being prepared for launch.

The Falcon 9 rocket was carrying the Japanese telecommunications satellite JCSat-16, which will deliver video and data services to people in the Asia-Pacific region.

This was SpaceX's 28th Falcon 9 rocket launch, and its eighth launch of 2016.

SpaceX successfully landed the lower portion on a drone ship floating in the Atlantic Ocean. This is the sixth rocket SpaceX has successfully landed on Earth, and the fourth to land on a drone ship.

The upper portion of the Falcon 9 rocket carried the satellite into space, dropping it safely into orbit.
