Donald Trump blasts media as 'disgusting and corrupt' in latest Twitter rant
Donald Trump took to Twitter Sunday morning, attacking The New York Times and the media as 'disgusting and corrupt' and blamed what he called dishonest reporting for his recent dip in the polls.
"If the disgusting and corrupt media covered me honestly and didn't put false meaning into the words I say, I would be beating Hillary by 20%,' the Republican nominee tweeted.
Trump was referencing to the latest polling numbers that show Hillary Clinton leading the Republican nominee by roughly seven points.

Trump's Twitter rage has been specifically aimed at a report from the New York Times claiming forces inside the billionaire's campaign are on "failing mission" to curb his rhetoric on the trail. The piece added to a growing narrative that some insiders on team Trump have given up on trying to change him. At least one Trump backer quoted in the piece claimed the GOP nominee often seems to make gaffes every "three or four days."

The GOP candidate fired back at the paper, questioning the validity of the sources used in the article. "Their stories about me always quote non-existent unnamed sources. Very dishonest!," said Trump.
Trump also dismissed claims that his team is pushing for him to pivot as November's election looms, saying that "the failing @nytimes, which never spoke to me, keeps saying that I am saying to advisers that I will change. False, I am who I am-never said."
The article claims that "Mr. Trump's advisers now hope to steady him by pairing him on the trail with familiar, more seasoned figures," and also states that his team "believe he is nearly out of time to right his campaign."
Trump continues to call reports that his campaign is fledgling "fiction," saying the media "protects Hillary."
