5 countries placing travel warnings on the US

After decades of travel warnings for its own citizens abroad, the United States is being classified as high-risk by several countries around the world.

Many of the warnings come as a response to a spike of deadly mass shootings in the country, including the shooting of two black men by police each in Louisiana and Minnesota, the fatal sniping of five police officers in Dallas, and the mass shooting of a gay club in Orlando.

1. The Bahamas

The Bahamas was the first nation to issue a travel warning. The country specifically noted "the recent tensions in some american cities over shootings of young black males by police officers."

2. Bahrain

Bahrain's embassy in Washington D.C. made its statement on Twitter. The embassy warned its visiting citizens to "be cautious of protests or crowded areas occurring around the U.S."

3. New Zealand

New Zealand's similarly advised its travelers to "avoid all protests and demonstrations as on occasion civil disorder can result."

4. The United Arab Emirates

The U.A.E. Is cautioning its citizens to avoid traditional dress abroad "to ensure their safety." This comes after a Emirati man in Ohio for medical treatment was falsely accused of being a terrorist.

5. The United Kingdom

The British Foreign Office warned its gay citizens abroad, saying, "the U.S. Is an extremely diverse society and attitudes towards LGBT people differ hugely across the country."

This followed the recent passing of anti-LGBT legislation by both Mississippi and North Carolina.

The U.K. brings the most overseas tourists to the U.S., excluding Canada and Mexico.

These travel warnings could decrease the 4.5 million Brits who visit every year.
