On Thursday, just a short while before giving a mass in front of the Jasna Gora shrine in Poland, Pope Francis tripped over a step and tumbled to the ground, reports ABC News.

Those around him rushed to his aid and helped him back on his feet, after which he carried on with the ceremony.

A spokesperson for the Vatican assures all, "the pope is fine."

It's believed he was simply deep in his thoughts and didn't notice the step down, notes USA Today.

The shrine, which features the "Black Madonna of Czestochowa," was among Pope Francis' first stops in Poland. He will be in the country for the coming days.
