An off-duty police officer attempting to dine at a Brenham, Texas McDonald's with his two children was initially denied service.

According to KHOU, when the family approached the counter, the cashier "...told the officer that she doesn't serve law enforcement and then just walked away."

Another employee swiftly stepped in to take the order, and the individual who declined to do so was fired shortly after.

On Wednesday, Chief Craig Goodman with the Brenham Police Department commented about the incident on Facebook.

Goodman noted, "We know this was an isolated incident that involved a single employee who is not fond of Law Enforcement. It is my hopes and prayers that this employee and anyone else who has a negative view of Law Enforcement address the real and/or perceived problem(s) through positive communication with us."
