Stubborn bear had to be airlifted back to forest

The saying goes, "there's no place like home."

Apparently, it doesn't apply to bears, especially ones who think their home is a hydro site.

One stubborn black bear stayed at the Manitoba, Canada site for more than a month. The bear is about two-years-old, and loved hanging around the site, no matter who he was interfering with.

This includes work areas and lodges where Hydro employees lived.

Despite being a cub, the bear wasn't easy to catch.

Once officials finally caught him in a trap, the bear was safely tranquilized and taken into captivity in a large net.

The bear then needed to be airlifted via helicopter across the Nelson River. Bruce Owen, the Hydro public affairs officer, says the location will be safe for the bear.

Though black bears can swim, he likely won't try to swim back across the river, so the workers won't have to worry about him returning.

Now, Owen says, the bear can freely, "go on to do what bears do."
