A Severely Sunburned Dolphin Appears To Be Recovering

A bottlenose dolphin suffering from a severe sunburn appears to be on the mend, reports the Daily Mail.

The four-year-old animal sustained the damage several weeks ago when she washed ashore in Scotland.

Although rescuers tried to protect her skin with wet blankets, the dolphin was nonetheless exposed to the sun's UV rays for several hours.

And when the animal was finally released back into the water, she had blistering on her right side which was described as "horrific."

The Daily Mail is reporting that scientists from the University of Aberdeen recently spotted the dolphin for the first time since her release.

Based on their observations, they believe the dolphin is behaving normally, and her scars appear to be healing without infection, notes the BBC.
