Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell goes off-script at RNC in stunning tear-jerker speech
Former United States Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell brought the Republican National Convention audience in Cleveland to a roar Monday night when he went off-script during a passionate speech that called for unity.
After being introduced by former Texas Governor Rick Perry, the vet took the stage to chants of "'Lone Survivor."
"I think it's important to say that we got to make sure that the hell the veterans return from is not the hell [they] come home to, OK?" said Luttrell. "That's what was promised, and that's what's deserved."
Luttrell was visibly moved during his RNC address, appearing to break from his prepared remarks to talk about his love of country, his commitment and his appreciation for serving one united America.
"America is the light," he said to cheers from the audience at the Quicken Loans arena in Cleveland.
"The only way for any life to matter, we all have to matter," Luttrell said, seemingly taking a swipe at the Black Lives Matter movement.

"Who among you will love something more than you love yourself, who among you will step up and take the fight to the enemy? Because it's here," Luttrell said.
Luttrell's message also resonated on social media, with one person even asking, "Can we just elect Marcus Luttrell?" Others pointed out that the address was "bringing down the house."

According to reports, a few in the crowd were brought to tears by Luttrell's emotional plea for unity. Luttrell continued, "the only way we survive this is together, not apart."
Luttrell received a Navy Cross and Purple Heart for his actions battling Taliban fighters during Operation Red Wings in June 2005.
