The Republican National Convention (RNC) kicked off on Monday, July 18 in Cleveland, Ohio.

According to the official RNC website, the convention -- with a "Make America Great Again" theme -- will feature, "Veterans, political outsiders, faith leaders and presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump's family members will lead an unconventional lineup of speakers who have real-world experience and will make a serious case against the status quo and for an agenda that will make America great again."

One demographic that Trump is trying to win over at this convention is a fairly large one: women. As of now, Trump takes the lead over Democrat Hillary Clinton by 8 percentage points, but lags behind in female support: only 34% of American women support him, a record low as of Sunday's Washington Post poll.

Like the polls, this Twitter photo does not bode well for the candidate:

As told by the poster, journalist Laure Penny, the only people to turn out for the Women for Trump events were other journalists and interns.

"Trump's weakness with women is one of the biggest hurdles he faces in terms of making the numbers add up in the country," said Geoffrey Garin, who advised Hillary Clinton's 2008 campaign,

Garin continued, "Democrats can't win without winning women, and Republicans can't win unless they find some way to reduce their disadvantage with women."

According to USA Today, Trump will attempt to overcome this weakness by focusing on security and family, as well as toning down his aggressive rhetoric.

With the RNC continuing the next few days, Trump may continue these efforts. Whether the events will see a better turnout is unknown.
