It's no joke that elephants have extremely good memories. The elephants at David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust prove just that with the strong bond they share.

These elephants remember one another, and they look out for each other when they need to. They know when a friend is hurt and stay close out of concern.

Maikreti was an elephant who was rescued in 2010 when the DSWT staffers found her alone.

She was eventually reintegrated back to the wild, but returned to the shelter when she needed help.

One time, Makireti showed up with a poisonous arrow lodged in her side. Though the injury wasn't life threatening, it was startling. Her friends recognized her and rallied around her to show support.

Kibo the elephant was the most concerned. He stayed by her side the entire time. He didn't interfere or disturb her treatment. Kibo simply wanted to make sure his friend was going to be OK.

In perhaps one of the cutest scenes to ever be recorded, Kibo touched his trunk to Makireti's trunk and gave her a little nudge to wake up.

Makireti woke up and made a full recovery. She is now staying at DSWT with her friends until she is fully recovered.
