Deep Sea Explorers Encounter Shrimp With 'Chopstick' Antennae

NOAA researchers with the Okeanos Explorer expedition recently captured a video of a glowing shrimp with some crazy antennae.

Not only are the extensions enormous, they have a very pronounced bend to them.

As a result, it looks like the shrimp is carting around a pair of dangling chopsticks.

Such developments are fairly common at great depths.

Due to the dark environment, denizens of the deep sea need means other than sight to navigate their surroundings.

The footage was gathered as part of the NOAA's Deepwater Exploration of Marianas mission.
