Texas governor severely burned in accident, may miss GOP convention

The governor was being treated at a nearby medical center when he first received word of the deadly shooting in Dallas this past Thursday.
Abbott's immediate response upon hearing the tragic news was, "I've got to come back."

His top aide said, "For him, it was important not to distract from what was happening in Dallas."
Fortunately, surgery is not required immediately. However, Abbott will have to see a specialist and be required to get his legs wrapped every day. This treatment will likely span over the next several weeks.
The Texas governor is also chairman of Texas's delegation to the Republican convention in Cleveland, and has said he supports presumptive nominee Donald Trump.
