Remember when phones used to stay alive for days without any need to charge them?

iPhones are incredibly powerful, sexy looking smartphones but let's face it, the battery always runs out before the end of the day.

Here are some simple tricks to manage your battery life so that you'll be able to send that last tweet before going to sleep.

1) Turn off the connections you are not using

Bluetooth, WiFi and cellular data (3G-4G) are awesome to keep you connected to the world, but they drain your battery like nothing does (except maybe the camera app or a video). Switch these off anytime you are not using them and your battery life will increase significantly. You can turn Wifi and Bluetooth off by swiping up on your home screen and tapping their symbols.

Cellular connection unfortunately is not as easy to access. You'll need to go into Settings > Cellular and turn off cellular data.

2) Decrease the brightness of your screen

Naturally, your screen takes a lot of energy to work. While you need your screen on in order to use your phone, you can turn down the brightness by swiping up from the home screen.

3) DON'T close the apps you open
Contrary to what you might think, having some apps open in the background doesn't consume more battery than opening and closing them all the time. Closing apps to save battery is a myth.

4) Don't let apps track your location

GPS is another major battery sucker. You can deactivate the option to share your location from Settings > Privacy > Location Services. Either turn everything off, or select app by app.

5) Set your email to fetch manually

If your email is automatically fetching every so many minutes, that is taking your battery life away.
You can select the option to check for new email manually, unless you suffer from extreme FOMO. Go on Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data and select "Manually."
