We’re massive fans of audiobooks since you can listen to them anywhere you take your phone. They’re also a nice break between podcasts and listening to music.

1. “Educated” by Tara Westover

“I read ‘Educated’ by Tara Westover last summer after countless people recommended it, and I still think about it regularly. The memoir recounts Westover’s unique and difficult upbringing and her struggle to break free of her family’s expectations by pursuing an education for herself. More than any other book I’ve read in recent memory, it gave me a deeper appreciation for how others live and how different the hands that we’re all dealt are by putting me in Westover’s shoes and taking us through her wild journey.” — Gibson Johns, Host and Producer

2. “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne

“As cliché as it might sound, ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne has impacted my life more than any other book. I’ve read it almost 10 times throughout my life and turn to it whenever I’m in need of motivation or encouragement. ‘The Secret’ takes a deep dive into philosophies throughout the centuries that scientifically back up the Law of Attraction. Ultimately, the book focuses on the importance of daily gratitude and that we ultimately have the power to create a fulfilled and happy life.” — Laura Galvan, Style Commerce Editor

3. “Year of Yes” by Shonda Rhimes

“I always say that ‘Year of Yes’ by Shonda Rhimes is the book I didn’t know I needed. Its philosophy is easy: Say ‘yes’ to everything that scares you. The award-winning director, producer and creator of hits like ‘Scandal’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ wrote about embracing that challenge for one year and chronicles what she learned from this experience. It’s definitely a must-read.” — Moriba Cummings, Commerce Editor

4. “Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens

“At the beginning of quarantine, I read ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ by Delia Owens and I highly recommend it. It’s a super quick read and has an impactful storyline. It also really teaches you not to judge a book by its cover or a person from where they come from!” — Nikki Kessler, Video Producer

5. “Dear Darkness” by Kevin Young

“As someone who writes and edits for a living, at the end of a workday, it’s tough for me to pick up a novel and really commit to it. Instead, I often reach for poetry. Poetry is often short and succinct, but a single piece can challenge me as much as an entire novel. While prioritizing works of Black poets, I recently rediscovered ‘Dear Darkness’ by Kevin Young and have been spending time with it. It’s a gorgeous collection of poetry that explores grief, family, Black culture and resilience. I was introduced to Kevin Young by the poem ‘I am trying to break your heart,’ which is included in this book and gnaws at me for ages each time I read it.” — Katie Dupere, Commerce Editor
