Dog owner shocked by discovery inside destroyed chew toy: 'It's like a wholesome prank'

A dog owner whose playful pooch tore apart one of her new chew toys was delighted to find a secret Easter egg hiding inside.
Reddit user SilverTigerstripes shared a photo of the remnants of his Samoyed puppy’s destroyed Consuela the Cactus toy, created by pet subscription service BarkBox.

To both the dog and owner’s delight, hidden inside Consuela’s “prickly,” smiling plush exterior was a smaller toy seed with a sad expression just waiting to be played with.
Redditors seemed to love the clever toy design, with many immediately recognizing it as a BarkBox original due to its unique “inception” style. (The brand also sells a similar Penny the Pineapple toy that has a hidden surprise inside, revealed only once the exterior is lovingly chewed off.)
“I genuinely love the mindset of designers that do stuff like this,” wrote one user. “Instead of getting irritated or sad that the toy is destroyed, you actually get a good belly laugh. It’s like a wholesome prank.”
“This is a BarkBox toy,” said another. “They design their toys like this, and my dog absolutely loves it when she shreds into a toy to reveal another.”
“My Golden Retriever has this same toy and is on the 2nd cactus as well,” shared a third. “Inside of that is a ball!”
Consuela the Cactus is no stranger to Reddit — she’s delighted the internet once before with her sad cactus insides.
And BarkBox, itself, has also previously made headlines with some of its more scandalous offerings — one 4/20 subscription box that was conveniently spinach-themed and one particular item that looked a little bit more like a sex toy than a dog toy.
