If there’s one thing a lot of us beauty shoppers can agree on, it’s that we’re all taking time to understand what our skincare needs are. For some, acne is at the top of the list for skin concerns. For others like myself, it’s acne scarring and redness. But almost 900 people have left reviews for this Ordinary Niacinamide serum that treats all three skin concerns.

If you haven’t already gotten hip to this popular skincare brand, The Ordinary is anything but. And it’s just one of several beauty brands owned by parent company Deciem — but The Ordinary makes up around 70 percent of the business. However, since the brand’s boom in 2017, its Niacinimide 10% + Zinc 1% has been gaining traction for everything from clearing acne to shrinking pores.

Before trying it for myself, I already had pretty clear skin, but my biggest concern was the scarring that my old zits had left behind. As impatient as I am, I was pleasantly surprised at how fast I was seeing results having used it only for a weekend. Even the couple of straggling bumps on my face that the Squalene cleanser couldn’t fully eliminate, this Niacinimide 10% + Zinz 1% surly did.

Niacinimide is also known as vitamin B3 and it helps to improve the skin’s barrier, which ultimately reduces the appearance of blemishes. But that’s not all. If you’re the type of person who suffers from oily skin, the Niacinimide serum decreases the glyceride and fatty components of the skin surface sebum, per The Ordinary site. However, if you’re going to add the Niacinimide into your routine, the brand says you shouldn’t use it with pure vitamin C as the Niacinimide can affect the effectiveness of the vitamin C.

This Niacinimide is in popular demand, too. It’s currently sold out at Ulta and Sephora. And as of right now, BeautyBay is limiting the serum to one per person.

“I have been using it alongside other products, but this product has helped with the smaller breakouts that I’ve had. It makes my skin feel smooth in the morning and has helped with the texture on my face,” one customer wrote.

Another reviewer added that this serum is to be your best friend if you have acne or other blemishes.

“I’ve been using this serum in a routine with the hyaluronic acid drops and my skin has significantly improved. I’ve been using treatment for my acne from doctors for years and this incredibly affordable and effective product beats it.”
