With restaurants closed to the public for the foreseeable future, it’s possible you won’t be able to eat a fresh lobster roll on an outdoor patio with your friends any time soon — a nightmare.

Thankfully, you can still re-create the delicious summer treat in the comfort of your own home.

Goldbelly, an online marketplace for regional restaurants, is offering a DIY lobster roll kit from Eventide Oyster Co. that can be shipped directly to your home for $99.

The recipe is a James Beard Award-winning take on the classic New England staple.

The package comes with everything you need to make four of your own lobster rolls:

  • 12 ounces of freshly picked Maine lobster meat

  • 6 ounces of brown butter vinaigrette

  • 4 fluffy steamed buns

  • Chives for garnish

In the summer, Eventide sells an average of 500-600 of these lobster rolls per day. It’s one of the most popular restaurants in Portland, Maine.

The meal kits are helping Eventide — and so many other small businesses — stay open amid social distancing.

Other meal kit options you can enjoy at home include 8 Shake Shack burgers for $49, 12 authentic Essa Bagels for $59 and a 4-pack of edible Cookie DŌ for $50.

This might be the most delicious way to support iconic local restaurants.
