Kristin Cavallari's hairstylist shares 3-ingredient hair mask recipe to give dull locks some shine

This easy hair mask might be the perfect pick-me-up!

Justine Marjan is a celebrity hairstylist with over 10 years of experience working with some serious star-studded clients, including Kristin Cavallari, the Kardashian sisters, Kerry Washington, Olivia Culpo and Dorit Kemsley.

Marjan gave In The Know her easy three-ingredient hair mask recipe that you can try at home with products you probably already have in your kitchen.

All you need to make the mask is one teaspoon of honey, one teaspoon of castor oil and one banana.

“This is an amazing combination that helps increase the hair health,” Marjan said. “By adding shine, elasticity so that you prevent split ends and it helps stimulate the hair follicles preventing hair fall and increasing hair growth.”

Mix the three ingredients in a bowl until they’re blended together and form a paste, and then Marjan says to apply the mask to the ends of the hair first.

Afterwards, work the mixture up the length of your hair. If your hair gets oily quickly, she recommends skipping the scalp entirely. Once finished applying, let the hair mask sit for 30 minutes. Finally, rinse off with shampoo and condition normally.

Marjan applies the mask to her own hair and the results are noticeable.

“It looks so shiny and healthy. I hope you guys will try out this mask,” she says.

For those curious as to why these three ingredients work wonders, bananas contain silica which assists in the body’s production of collagen and can make hair thicker and stronger. Honey is rich in antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and proteins, and can moisturize, reduce hair breakage, soften hair and restore shine. Meanwhile, castor oil is commonly used for hair growth and to treat scalp conditions.
