Whether it's for a birthday, anniversary, holiday or just because, everyone loves to receive a special treat. Especially in times of quarantine life, a gift may pack a lot more meaning than before. If you want to go above and beyond, Milk Bar makes the most delicious desserts for sending friends and family (and maybe even yourself).

Milk Bar was founded by Christina Tosi in New York City back in 2008. While she was running the pastry program for Momofuku Ssam Bar, the restaurant of famous chef David Chang, she started creating twists on childhood favorites, like cereal milk panna cotta. Eventually, when a space next to the restaurant became available, she opened up her own place with encouragement from Chang.

One of her signatures became Milk Bar Pie (formerly called Crack Pie), which she first only made for her fellow restaurant workers as an after-shift snack. Its ooey gooey center is encased in a toasted oat crust, and it's sweet, salty, sticky and delicious — you just have to try it.

Today, Milk Bar is also known for creating some of the most fun, innovative and Instagram-worthy desserts. The signature birthday cake, inspired by funfetti cake and layered with frosting, took almost three years to develop — it's totally worth the $50 price tag. (It also has a gluten-free option available.)

However, if you don't want to spend that much cash, Milk Bar also sells its cake in truffle form, which, to be honest, is almost better. They're basically bite-sized cake balls and you'll want more than a few.

If you want to try a few things or want celebrations to last beyond a few bites or slices, Milk Bar also recently launched care packages which are filled with a mixture of its treats.

The least expensive option is The Sampler, which includes B'day Truffles, a slice of Milk Bar Pie, a Chocolate Chocolate Cookie and a Corn Cookie (sounds weird, but it's good, trust me). Other packages include more full-size options of all the treats.

Milk Bar ships all of its treats anywhere in the U.S., and if you order by noon, your package will be delivered the next day. Everything is fresh-baked, then flash-frozen, cold-packed and insulated in the Milk Bar signature box, so it will arrive in perfect condition. For gifts, you can also add a personalized message.

So send a little cheer, lift spirits and give your loved ones something to smile about. Like the brand's website reads: "We’re firm believers in celebrating every single day with something sweet. Dessert is about love and joy — how we show it, how we share it, how we give it to ourselves. Everyone deserves a cookie from time to time. Why not now?"

Pro tip: Milk Bar also has several cook (or, bake?) books for creating its sweet treats at home on your own!
