If you’ve been watching The Mandalorian on Disney+, then you definitely know who Baby Yoda is. And if you haven’t been watching the latest Star Wars spin-off, there’s still a very good chance that you know there’s some sort of crazy hype around this character.
According to Disney+’s website, TheMandalorian follows the journey of “a lone gunfighter [as he] makes his way through the lawless galaxy” after the fall of the Empire. But if you need a more specific answer on the intergalactic timeline in question, Newsweek says that the show is set “between the events of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens.”
In the new series, Yoda, the wise alien and Jedi master that Stars Wars fans know and love from the franchise, is back in some form (Is it a clone? Or a relative? TBD!). However, this time there’s a major difference: this Yoda is only 50 years old, which is 850 years younger than the Yoda we’re used to. And TBH, he’s really freaking adorable. Outfitted in his signature brown cloak, Yoda and his saucer-sized eyes have captured the hearts of viewers.
He’s so cute that he’s more popular than most politicians, and stores can’t seem to produce Baby Yoda merchandise fast enough. In fact, several of the most wanted items are only available for pre-order. While we will have to wait until October 2020 for the second season of The Mandalorian, we have a feeling that our love for The Child isn’t going anywhere.
