Being a beauty editor means that I get to try a LOT of beauty products every day. From haircare essentials to skincare splurges, I not only get to see what’s on the market, but also what’s worth our coins (I know, thank me later). However, I’ll be the first to admit that sometimes it’s hard to pick a fan favorite, but thankfully I’ve found some holy-grail products that are always worth the splurge.
Thankfully, Nordstrom heard my cry for a beauty sale to shop while we’re self-isolating at home, with many top-rated products being 15 percent off. And if that’s not great enough, makeup enthusiasts of all levels of artistry can be excited to know that many of these products fall under $50. So yes, you can be super cute and still stick to your budget!
Below, I’ve rounded up my tried-and-true beauty products that I think every beauty bombshell should add to their makeup counter.
Shop: MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation, $20 (Orig. $31)
Editor note: MAC is an OG when it comes to foundation. I love this foundation because it has SPF in it and it comes in a variety of shade tones.
Shop: Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream, $18.70-$45.05 (Orig. $22-$53)
Editor note: This facial cream is extremely lightweight on the skin and perfect for those days you want to make sure your face stays hydrated and moisturized.
Shop: MAC Matte Lipstick, $16.15 (Orig. $19)
Editor note: Admittedly, I think I own over 100 MAC lipsticks, but it’s for a good cause. The color payoff is immaculate and even the matte formula won’t dry out your lips.
Shop: Kiehls Deep Pore Daily Cleanser, $20.40 (Orig. $24)
Editor note: Have you ever wanted a cleanser that exfoliated your skin without completely drying you out? This cleanser contains Amazonian White Clay which helps remove toxins and oils from the skin, and its non-stripping ingredients allow for you to still feel hydrated after washing.
Shop: NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, $25.50 (Orig. $30)
Editor note: I’ve sworn by this creamy concealer for years — it’s buildable so you can get a lot of coverage, but it’s also extremely lightweight so you won’t feel like you’re caking on a ton of product.
Shop: Skin Gym Rose Quartz Crystal Facial Roller, $23.80 (Orig.$28)
Editor note: Rose quartz is known for its healing properties, and this roller is great for applying your layers of skincare. Also, who doesn’t like to feel pampered while skincare self-caring?
Shop: Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish Set, $30.60 (Orig. $36)
Editor note: Deborah Lippmann offers a lot of versatile nail shades, and honestly, I know we all are trying to perfect our at-home mani during this time.
Shop: Too Faced Born This Way Concealer, $11.05-$24.65 (Orig. $13-$29)
Editor note: If I was stranded on an island, I’d want to make sure I have this concealer. Other than its diverse shade range, this concealer offers great product payoff and is easily buildable.
Shop: Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder, $33.15 (Orig. $39)
Editor note: Laura Mercier is a top dog when it comes to translucent setting powders, and the brand’s additional brown-girl-friendly shade makes this a go-to product for coverage and setting your makeup.
Shop: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer, $19.55 (Orig. $23)
Editor note: Whether you have barely any brow hairs (hello, me) or thick model brows, this definer pencil not only gets you a really precise fill in but also has a spoolie at the end to tame any flyaway hairs.
Shop: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, $11.05-$21.25 (Orig. $13-$25)
Editor note: Cheeky name aside, this mascara has given my lashes amazing volume and lift. The wand is perfectly arched to fit the curve of your lash line and a little product goes a long way.
